Founded by billionaire Chang Byunggie, Korean gaming giant Krafton is expanding its crypto empire by merging with blockchain startup Solana Labs to create playful crypto games. The company behind the popular video game PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) announced on Wednesday that it has signed a business agreement with Solana Labs to develop a blockchain game that allows players to earn NFTs (non-fungible tokens). NFTs are unique digital assets stored on the blockchain that prove ownership of certain items such as in-game assets, photos, and artwork. Solana Labs is the company that developed the Solana blockchain. This has recently challenged Ethereum's dominance as more developers are adopting it for decentralized finance projects. Prominent supporters include Sam Bankman Fried, the founder of the crypto exchange FTX billionaire.
